Imagine it: You finally set up that shiny new streaming device you got over the holidays, and now you’re ready to sink in to your couch and enjoy some much-deserved Slinging In. The only problem? You’ve forgotten your password.
Well, if you’re like almost 400,000 others in 2019, you headed to the Sling Help Site for instructions on how to reset your password.
Our support teams are equipped to handle any number of questions about Sling TV, whether you’re having trouble logging in, need help resolving an error code or you just want to learn more about cutting the cord. We keep our ear to the ground for the questions you’re asking, and we’re constantly updating our resources based on your feedback to make sure we’re quickly getting you the answers you’re after.
In no particular order, here are five topics you wanted to know the most about in 2019:
Short Answer: Keeping track of email addresses, usernames and passwords can be a pain, but we have you covered! When logging in to your Sling account, you can request a password reset or retrieve a forgotten email address. Visit the account sign-in page to start.
Next to resetting passwords, the most common login-related question we received from you in 2019 was how to update your email address. While we don’t have a way for you to do this yourself at present, we’re working on it! For now, you’ll need to connect with our support agents to make this change. Don’t feel like calling? Don’t worry! In addition to phone support, we also offer assistance through chat, Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp. Visit our help site to see the options for connecting with us.
Short Answer: We added a number of new programming options in 2019, including some of your most-requested channels. Keeping track of these changes can be time-consuming, believe us, we know. Whether you’re new to Sling or are looking to change your subscription, our Channels Search page will tell you what channels we offer and where to find them.
Additionally, many of you in 2019 wanted to know more about local programming offered on Sling. Live, local programming from NBC and FOX is available in select markets when subscribed to our Sling Blue or Sling Orange + Sling Blue services. Find out if local channels are available in your area.
Of course, if we don’t have the channel you’re looking for, you can always request it.
How do I watch local channels on Sling TV?
Changing Your Subscription
Short Answer: One of the best things about Sling is the flexibility. Whether you want to add more channels for football season, or remove an extra once the season of your favorite show ends, making changes is simple.
On most devices, you can add extras and premium channels straight from the Sling app. On your My TV screen, just scroll down to Add Premium Channels and More to find all the available extras you can add to your subscription. If you’re not near a device, you can also add extras through your account at sling.com.
Remember, any extras you add to your subscription will be billed immediately for a prorated amount based on the amount of time left in your current billing cycle. You’ll be billed for the full amount of the extra at the beginning of your next billing cycle.
To remove an extra, you’ll need to log in to My Account to make the change. Once you’ve logged in, select Change Subscription, then select the check mark next to the extra you’d like to remove. Go down to the bottom of the page and hit Review to confirm.
Any extras you’re removing will roll off your subscription at the end of your current billing cycle.
Short Answer: We definitely understand how important it is to watch your favorite programming on your schedule, which is why we made some changes to our Cloud DVR feature in 2019, including adding the ability to record ESPN channels and giving all customers 10 hours of cloud storage with Cloud DVR Free.
Of course, if you have a number of shows and movies you can’t get enough of, you can upgrade to Cloud DVR Plus and get 50 hours of cloud storage for $5/month. On most devices, you can add Cloud DVR right from your Sling app in the Add Premium Channels and More menu on your My TV screen.
If you’re not near a device or in-app purchases aren’t available on your device, you can add Cloud DVR Plus through My Account at sling.com.
Using Cloud DVR is a breeze. Just select a program you’d like to record, then hit the Record button. If you’re recording a show from a series, you’ll have the option to record all episodes, new episodes or just the selected episode.
When you’re ready to watch your program, you can find it in the Recordings menu on your My TV screen.
Streaming Issues and Error Codes
Short Answer: Streaming issues like buffering, freezing or seeing a black screen can be super frustrating, especially when all you want to do is unwind and watch some TV at the end of a long day. Most streaming issues will have to do with your internet connectivity, an issue with an individual show/movie, a channel, your Sling account or your device.
Most streaming issues can be resolved with common steps like checking your internet connection, changing channels, restarting the Sling app, restarting your device, reinstalling the Sling app or updating the Sling app/your device.
Similar to streaming issues, error codes can be frustrating, and can happen for a number of reasons. Most error codes will resolve themselves after a short time, but if they persist, try heading to our help site and searching for the error code you’re seeing to find steps tailored to the issue.
